HANGZHOU HIKVISION DIGITALTECHNOLOGY CO., LTD.2016 Annual ReportApril 14th2017ToShareholdersDearShareholders,Thesecurityindustryin2016wascharacterizedbyfurtherconsolidationandsteadygrowth.Despitecontinuedvolatilityintheglobaleconomyanddiversecompetitivelandscapesaroundtheworld,HangzhouHikvisionDigitalTechnologyCo.,Ltd.(theCompany)madenumerouseffectivestrategicadjustments.TheCompany’sfocusonincreasingitsprofitabilityresultedinagrossprofitmarginof41.58%in2016,upfrom40.10%in 2015.Withincreasedinvestments,theCompanyachievedbalancedgrowthof26.32%inoperatingrevenue,24.32%inoperatingprofit,and26.46%innetprofit,whilecontinuingtomaintainhealthyoveralldevelopment.Interestinintelligentvideosurveillancesolutionsacceleratedin2016,drivenbytechnologyinnovations.TheCompany’sresearchanddevelopmentinintelligentvideosurveillancebasedonthemodelinganalysistechniqueofvideocontenthasbeenprogressingslowlyforthepastdecade,andwehaveexperiencedcommercialsuccessnotablyinthecarlicenseplateidentificationmarketsegment.In2015,basedonadvancementsinGPUanddeeplearningtechnologies,theCompanylauncheditsArtificialIntelligence(AI)-centralproductline:“Falcon”(猎鹰),avideostructuringserver,and“Blade”(刀锋),avehicleimagestructuringserver,whichreceivedfavorablemarketrecognitionlastyear.Then,in2016,basedonfurtherdevelopmentsinGPU/VPUanddeeplearningtechnologies, the Company launched “DeepInview”(深眸), a new series of intelligent videocameras; “DeepInmind”(超脑) NVRs; “Divine Captor”(神捕), intelligent traffic products; and“Hikface”(脸谱),facialanalyticsproducts.Asaresult,theCompanynowoffersAI-edgedevicesandAI-centralproducts.
